R.I.P. Oleg Kanaev!

More sad news!  I can't believe this!!  Zhenya and Egor's father, Oleg Kanaev, unexpectedly passed away on the 7th. 

You can read a translation of a news article on Zhenya Kanaeva Gymnasium.  Apparently he had a heart attack while flying back to Moscow from Turkey.  How tragic!

My deepest condolences to Zhenya and Egor and the rest of Zhenya's family.  In a way, it is lucky that he did get to see both of his children get married before he passed away...may he rest in peace!

I can see it now...Yulia has a baby next year just like Zhenya, and they both have little girls, who grow up to be RG girls, and of course they are super talented...so then they are rivals, but they are also cousins and best friends~!  :P

Yulia G married Egor Kanaev (Zhenya's brother)!!

Looks like both of the Kanaev kids got married this year!!  In June, Zhenya married Igor Musatov, and yesterday, Yulia Golubenko married Zhenya's brother Egor!

I wrote about them being such a cute couple (and how awesome it must be to have Zhenya as a sister-in-law) earlier.

Sadly, the group girls couldn't make it out because they're stuck in training.  But the really shocking absence was that of Ul's partner-in-crime/Siamese twin/BFF--Makar!!  UNACCEPTABLE!!  (Well, okay, maayyybe she had a good excuse, but we'll get to that in the next post.)

Unfortunately, I haven't seen any other photos of Zhenya's beloved coach, Vera Efremovna, but this is definitely her back!! This is Oleg Naumov, the team photographer.

As well as an AWESOME video gift from the other RG girls.  Basically, they are re-enacting how Zhenya and Igor met--at the hospital.

Two people don't know about the existence of each other. But one day can change their lives forever, and bring their ways into one. Zhenya is a beautiful girl, talented gymnast and great person who by coincidence was in the hospital.
